Whether playing in groups specializing in music of the 17th and 18th centuries, symphony orchestras, renaissance consorts, or a folk band, Megan Adie performs with a spirit and precision worthy of each genre. She brings experience and passion to each of her chosen fields, and works with some of the best practitioners in historical music today.
Megan is principal bass with Concerto Copenhagen, touring and recording baroque and classical music as well as contemporary pieces written for the group. Their tour schedule has taken them across the Nordic countries, the UK, Europe, and China.
She has also performed and recorded with ensembles including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and La Chambre Philharmonique; Copenhagen Phil and Malmö Opera; and chamber groups in Denmark and southern Sweden. While living in Basel, she worked with Swiss groups including kammerorchester basel, Capriccio Barockorkester, and La Cetra. She particpated twice in the Festival at Aix-en-Provence. Megan is also a long time member of the American old time band the Crooked Jades.
Megan received her Master's degree from the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in 2012, where she studied violone with David Sinclair. She also studied double bass with Nico Abondolo and Dennis Trembly at the University of Southern California, and historical performance practice at the San Francisco Conservatory with Corey Jamason and Anthony Martin.
